H O M E O F F I C E: Tips for Our “New” Reality

Nos tempos que correm, o trabalhar em casa é algo que se tornou necessário e que terá de ser encarado de uma forma natural.
Iremos abordar algumas dicas para que o seu espaço de trabalho seja produtivo e algo que lhe dê prazer.

Home Office: Tips for a Productive and Comfortable Workspace

  1. Location
The location of your workspace is crucial! Whether it’s just a corner of a room to be shared, or an entire room dedicated to work, choose a quiet spot in the house to focus and hold virtual meetings. Organize the area so that everything you need is within easy reach.
  2. Space
Since you’ll spend a large part of your day here, the space should be comfortable and allow an efficient layout. The key measurement to consider is your desk, as it dictates work and circulation space. Designers often use 60 x 150 cm as a reference for a functional layout.
  3. Desk and Chair
These are the two most important pieces in any workspace. Your desk should accommodate your computer, monitor, and other tools required for your work. For some, a desk 120 cm wide is sufficient; for others, it may be too small—adjust according to your needs.
Your chair should be as comfortable and durable as possible. If you can, invest in a high-quality chair with a timeless design.
  4. Storage
Storage is often overlooked. Ensure you have enough shelves or units to organize physical files, peripherals like printers, or other necessary items. Consider bookshelves, modular shelving systems, or support furniture depending on your space.
  5. Lighting
Natural light is essential for a pleasant and calm working environment. Position your desk so that sunlight does not create glare on your monitor, ideally near a window. Use light curtains or blinds to reduce brightness without darkening the room. Light-colored walls and strategically placed mirrors can enhance natural light.
Artificial lighting is also critical: ceiling lights and desk lamps should be chosen carefully. Desk lamps provide targeted light without casting unwanted shadows. Floor lamps can also help create a cozy atmosphere.
If your view is limited, face the desk toward the door or decorate the wall in front of you with art or a mood board to inspire creativity.
  6. Cleanliness
Keep the space organized. Manage cables properly using cable organizers to prevent clutter and maintain a neat workspace.
  7. Personalization
Make the space your own. Add personal touches that reflect your style and create an environment where you feel comfortable and motivated.

This setup ensures your home office is not only functional but also a space where you enjoy spending time.
