They are socially inclusive because they are carefully made by a dedicated group of inmates at the Guimarães Prison, providing them with an opportunity for rehabilitation and social reintegration, as well as a feeling of belonging to a project of personal and professional development. They are environmentally responsible and contribute to reducing the textile ecological footprint because they are made from waste/leftover fabric from several national textile companies that partner with re.store.
“This is a project that had been planned for over a year, but required careful preparation in logistical terms, implying the addition of more textile partners from other areas and also the training of other social partners, given the greater complexity of this product . For example, the super fluffy filling comes from waste from the Bola de Algodão and Analar duvet factories, the denim used in its robust base comes from Troficolor waste, the upper fabrics come from various factories, the ribbons/trimmings are surplus from the company Cruz&Monteiro and the lines are from the company Solinhas. This combination results in a unique design for each of them, one of the many advantages of reuse: the optimization of resources already available on the Planet.” says the company’s founder and CEO, Sílvia Correia.
