Portugal sets course for Artificial Intelligence with a new national agenda

Portugal has taken a strategic step by approving the National Artificial Intelligence Agenda (ANIA), formalised through Council of Ministers Resolution No. 2/2026. This initiative establishes a clear vision for the development and adoption of AI in the country up to 2030, in line with the National Digital Strategy. ANIA is the result of a participatory process involving universities, companies, startups, SMEs, experts and citizens, reflecting a collaborative approach to shaping public policy for technological innovation.
