About TecPark

Founded in 2018, TecPark is headquartered in the parish of S. Cláudio de Barco. Its building is located in the Central Hub of AVEPARK – Guimarães Science and Technology Park, which hosts the logistical infrastructure, as well as common services, auditorium, videoconference, meeting/training rooms, and a café/restaurant.

Nearby is the 3B’s Research Group building, which hosts research groups in the fields of biomaterials, biodegradables, and biometrics, as well as Expertissues, a new research institute affiliated with the University of Minho, dedicated to Research and Development of Advanced Biomedical Materials and Human Tissue Engineering – in the biomedical field. This institute is another infrastructure that will help consolidate the AVEPARK ecosystem as a national reference in the bio and medtech areas.

Next to TecPark are also located:

  • Farfetch, an e-commerce company with an international presence, employing qualified professionals and currently employing over 320 staff members at Avepark;

  • Cávado and Ave Polytechnic Institute (IPCA), the youngest public higher education institution in Portugal, established on December 19, 1994, with facilities at Avepark since 2015, hosting around 400 students and 80 professors;

  • The European Reference Institute in Regenerative Medicine, a world-class research center in Regenerative and Precision Medicine, with more than 200 researchers;

  • Several renowned companies in the medtech sector, such as Hydrumedical, Bioceramed, and Stemmatters, recognized in the field of medical technologies and device research and production;

  • A student housing facility for students, professors, and researchers at affordable costs, contributing to expanded and democratized access to higher education and offering accommodation for students and researchers developing their projects at Avepark.

TecPark can host up to 20 companies, preferably spin-offs and start-ups, understood as businesses originating from universities, polytechnic institutes, or industry, or with high and rapid growth potential in terms of turnover and job creation. Other companies, particularly those that foster the transfer of advanced knowledge to industrial production, are technology-based, or promoted by young entrepreneurs in the fields of internationalization, information technology, communications and electronics, computing, programming, product design, energy, environment, biotechnology, engineering, or, more broadly, are grounded in scientific knowledge or contribute to innovation in processes, production methods, or business management, are also considered preferred beneficiaries of the incubator.
