In a morning focused on discovery and attitude, young students from the Escola Profissional D. Afonso Henriques traded the classroom for the real world, testing their adaptability and entrepreneurial vision alongside one of the region’s benchmark companies.
The “Professional Immersion” initiative, promoted by the Youth Division in partnership with Set.Up Guimarães, turned into a practical exercise in professional discovery today. Far from being a formal visit, the trip to Jordão was an invitation for the young people to take an active role in building their own careers.
The goal of the day was clear: to understand that professional success in the 21st century depends as much on how we relate to others and solve problems as it does on our technical skills. During the visit, the students were challenged to observe and identify, in a real-world environment, the value of critical competencies such as:
- Agility and Problem Solving: How Jordão’s teams navigate unforeseen challenges in their day-to-day operations.
- Communication and Teamwork: The importance of synergy between departments to deliver high-performance solutions.
- Entrepreneurial Thinking: The ability to look at a process and think about how to improve it, developing a proactive and innovative mindset.
By directly engaging with the challenges of a leading company in the refrigeration sector, the participants had the opportunity to refine their expectations and align their personal projects with the realities of the market.
This “Open Day” served as a networking platform and a training ground for self-confidence. By exploring the factory floor and the management offices, the students were not just visitors; they were investigators of their own future, absorbing the culture of innovation that drives Jordão.
With this initiative, which is part of Youth Month, the Municipality of Guimarães, through the Youth Division and Set.Up Guimarães, reinforces its commitment to programs that provide young people with a more pragmatic and ambitious outlook, proving that entrepreneurship begins to be learned the moment we decide to step out of our comfort zone to explore the world.
