Business owners now have access to new digital features for managing and sharing company documents on the gov.pt mobile application.

In its first phase, the Digital Business Wallet provides essential documents for business activity, with official validity, originating from Public Administration sources:

  • Company Electronic Card
  • Social Security Contribution Status Document
  • Tax Status Document from the Tax Authority
  • Central Register of Beneficial Owners (RCBE)

These documents allow the company to be identified and its legal, tax and social security status to be verified, and can be shared digitally whenever necessary.

The company’s Digital Wallet reduces the need to use multiple portals, paper documents, or repetitive processes.

Free access

Access to the Company’s Digital Wallet is free, as is the provision of the documents included in this initial phase. Only documents that already have an associated cost, such as the Permanent Certificate, will continue to be paid for.

Access is via the gov.pt application, with authentication using the Digital Mobile Key, and is available to legal representatives of the company and individuals with duly registered powers of representation.

The application needs to be up to date. Those who do not yet have the gov.pt mobile application can download it from the  App Store for iOS , the  Google Play Store  for Android, or the  AppGallery for Huawei .

Phased evolution and new services

A phased evolution of the company’s Digital Wallet is planned, with the integration of new services, such as:

  • Permanent Commercial Certificate
  • SME Certifications
  • Electronic signature
  • Tax and social security notices

It will be possible to manage multiple companies and establishments within the same application, with no limit on the number of entities.

Portugal leads the way in the Digital Business Wallet.

Portugal becomes the first country in the European Union to offer such a tool, aligned with the European eIDAS 2.0 regulation. With the full implementation of the regulation, it is expected that the Digital Business Wallet can be used in other European Union countries that adopt the  European Business Wallet , ensuring cross-border interoperability.

This initiative is also aligned with the European Commission’s proposed Omnibus regulation, which aims to simplify administrative processes for businesses.
