Guimarães’ Economy Month continued on Thursday, October 16, with another Business Drink, organized by the Associação Empresarial do Minho (AEMinho), this time focused on a topic of growing importance for the business community: cybersecurity and the implementation of the NIS2 Regulation.

The session, held at UNU-EGOV, brought together entrepreneurs, managers, and specialists for an informal yet highly relevant discussion on the challenges and opportunities the new European directive presents for organizations.

The main presentation was delivered by André Correia de Sousa, Cybersecurity Director at Deloitte, who shared a practical perspective on the NIS2 Directive and its impact on Portuguese businesses. The expert emphasized that this new regulation represents “a paradigm shift” in how companies manage digital risks, highlighting the importance of robust security structures, continuous monitoring, and incident response plans.

More than a legal obligation, NIS2 was presented as an opportunity to strengthen companies’ digital resilience, protect critical data, and foster trust among partners and clients. The session encouraged organizations to adopt proactive strategies capable of anticipating threats and maintaining a competitive edge in an increasingly digital economy.

The event concluded with a networking and informal gathering, allowing participants to share experiences and discuss strategies for adapting to the new regulation in a relaxed yet collaborative environment.

Part of Guimarães’ Economy Month, this Business Drink reinforces the commitment of AEMinho and the Municipality of Guimarães to equip the local business community for the challenges of the digital transition, in a region that prioritizes innovation, trust, and sustainability as pillars of its development.
