Raul Machado is graduated in Applied Biology, MSc in Molecular Genetics, and holds a PhD in Sciences with specialization in Biotechnology and Materials Science and Engineering from University of Minho (UMinho). Moreover, to complement his scientific background with multidisciplinary skills, he holds a post-graduation in Management.

 

Raul Machado is vice-Executive Diretor of the Institute of Science and Innovation for Bio-Sustainability (IB-S) and Assistant Researcher at the Centre of Molecular and Environmental Biology (CBMA), both from UMinho. Also, he was invited Lecturer for Entrepreneurship at the School of Economics and Management (UMinho).

 

He is a passionate about applied research and innovation, with extensive experience in Biotechnology and entrepreneurship. He has been involved in several entrepreneurial projects, acting as mentor, scientific and business strategy consultant. Raul Machado is external Expert Evaluator and Expert Monitor of the European Commission (Research Executive Agency, Directorate-General for Research and Innovation) participating in the evaluation and monitoring of pan-European projects for Bioeconomy and Circular Economy, and is mentor for entrepreneurial projects in a series of networks.
