BGI – Sustainable Ventures has officially opened applications for the new edition of the Blue Economy Accelerator, an international program focused on training, acceleration, and incubation for projects and startups operating within the Blue Economy sector.

The initiative, which follows a hybrid model (with online sessions and in-person events in Lisbon), aims to boost innovative and sustainable solutions to the challenges facing oceans, rivers, and coastal areas.

The program is divided into two phases. The first phase, with applications open until June 8, includes four online sessions designed to build the capacity of startups, entrepreneurs, and blue innovation enthusiasts. These sessions will address key industry trends, entrepreneurial skills, and strategies for business development.

The second phase, with applications open until June 30, targets individuals or teams with a business idea or project already in progress. Participants will benefit from specialized mentorship and practical sessions focusing on market and customer validation, go-to-market strategies, and networking opportunities with sector experts, investors, and partners.

The top teams will be invited to present their projects at a final in-person event and will be eligible to win prizes worth up to €2,500.

The program will be conducted in English and offers access to both national and international mentors with extensive experience in the blue economy sector, as well as a broad network of industry stakeholders, academic institutions, and public entities.

By participating in the Blue Economy Accelerator, entrepreneurs from the Guimarães region have the chance to take their businesses to a global stage while contributing to economic growth and the protection of marine resources.

Applications are now open through the program’s official page.
