About us

Vezes Atelier was born from the desire to reinterpret the practice of architecture through the lens of polyvalence. The very name, “Vezes” (“Times”), alludes to multiplication, an operation we extend across the full spectrum of our work, from the way we position ourselves as architects to the projects we conceive and bring to life. We believe that architecture is, by nature, an intersectional discipline. It is nourished by fields adjacent to it, yet distinct from one another, such as photography, topography, drawing, research, the various branches of engineering, modelling, writing, design, illustration, and 3D visualisation. As architects, we feel a responsibility to understand all of these domains in order to engage with them meaningfully and integrate them consciously into our design process.

We do not reject the idea of specialisation. On the contrary, we value technical and intellectual depth. What we reject is the notion that an architect should confine themselves to a single area of practice, losing touch with the complexity and breadth the profession demands. We believe that both approaches can coexist within the same framework: the possibility of being a competent and curious specialist-generalist, someone who engages with and understands almost everything. For Vezes Atelier, architecture is a hybrid territory between art and science, where the iterative process of experimentation, trial and error, interpretation, and adaptation is essential. To be an architect, therefore, is to remain in a constant state of learning. To stop seeking knowledge, thinking, understanding, and questioning is, in a way, to relinquish architecture itself.

It is upon this foundation that the team behind Vezes Arquitetos is formed: a collective committed to the multiplication of skills, experiences, and perspectives. A multidisciplinary team that does not merely add together individual capabilities, but is able to generate something greater than the sum of its parts.
