Sentinel, a startup from the Set.Up Guimarães community, has been standing out for its innovation in industrial quality control. Founded five years ago, the company developed a system that combines advanced software with photographic cameras to monitor products on production lines, ensuring greater precision and real-time efficiency.

According to Joel Alves, founder of Sentinel, the company quickly set itself apart in the market thanks to its resilient business model and ability to generate profit from its first year. This approach attracted the attention of major Portuguese groups such as Navigator and Corticeira Amorim, as well as international companies operating in Portugal. Earlier this year, the Spanish group Mondragon acquired a majority stake in the company, further reinforcing Sentinel’s potential for global expansion.

Sentinel’s participation in Liga dos Inovadores, a podcast by Expresso highlighting leading Portuguese companies, showcased the startup’s ability to combine technological innovation, operational efficiency and strategic vision. The journey of Sentinel reflects the entrepreneurial spirit of Guimarães and strengthens Set.Up Guimarães as an ecosystem capable of supporting startups with the potential for international recognition.
